본명 James Vernon Taylor로 1948년 3월 12일 미국에서 태어난 싱거/송라이터 및

기타리스트로6회에 걸쳐 그래미상을 수상하였고 2000년 락앤롤 명예의 전당에 헌정되었다.

1970년 Fire and Rain이 챠트 3위에오르며 명성을 알리기 시작하였으며 1971년에는 Carole King의

곡인 You've Got a Friend를 리메이크 하여 챠트 1위에 올리며 전성기를 구가하였다.

1976년 발매된 Greatest Hits 앨범은 총 천2백만장 이상의 판매고를 올리며 다이아몬드 앨범을 기록하였다.
