I'm My Own Grandpa라는 제곡의 노래인데 어찌 내가 나의 할아버지가 될
수 있는지 말도 안되는 이야기지만 노래를 들어보면 말이 되는 말입니다.(???)

내가 24세때 아름다운 과부와 결혼하였는데
그녀에게는 이미 다 커버린 빨강머리의 딸이 있었지요.
그녀는 나의 딸이 되었는데 어쩌다 아버지와 눈이 맞아 아버지와 결혼하게 되었답니다.
그러면 나의 딸이 내 새엄마? 그리고 아버니는 내 사위?
우리 부부사이에 아들이 태어났는데 그는 내 아들이자 양녀의
이복 동생이자 또한 아버지의 처남 그리고 내 외삼촌이 되었네요.
아버지도 아들을 갖게되었는데...
그러면 그는 아버지의 아들이니 내 동생이고, 딸의 아들이니 손자도 되고..
나의 처는 새엄마의 어머니니까 나의 할머니가 되네요.
나는 나의 할머니의 남편이니 나의 할아버지?

I'm My Own Grandpa

1947년 Latham 과 Jaffe가 작곡작사하여  Lonzo & Oscar에 의해
발표되었던 곡으로 1987년 Ray Stevens에 의해
그리고 2001년 Willie Nelson에 의해 리메이크 되었다.

Many, many years ago when I was twenty-three
I was married to a widow who was pretty as could be.
This widow had a grown-up daughter who had hair of red.
My father fell in love with her and soon they, too, were wed.

 This made my dad my son-in-law and changed my very life
For my daughter was my mother, 'cause she was my father's wife.
To complicate the matter, even though it brought me joy
I soon became the father of a bouncing baby boy.

My little baby then became a brother-in-law to dad
And so became my uncle, though it made me very sad
For if he was my uncle, then that also made him brother
To the widow's grown-up daughter, who, of course, was my step-mother.

My father's wife then had a son who kept them on the run
And he became my grand-child, 'cause he was my daughter's son.
My wife is now my mother's mother, and it makes me blue
Because, although she is my wife, she's my grandmother too.

If my wife is my grandmother, then I am her grandchild
And every time I think of it, it nearly drives me wild
For now I have become the strangest case you ever saw

As husband of my grandmother, I am my own grandpaw.
