Ernesto Cortazar 1세는 1897년 MexicoTamaulipas에서 태어났다.

그는 Garcia Planes, Robertcaballero, Lorenzo Barzelata 등과 함께 4인조를 결성하여 활동한 음악가이다.

이들은 Tamaulipas 에서 인기를얻어  주지사의  후원으로 뉴욕투어에 나섰으나 불의의 사고로 

 Roberto Caballero와 Garcia Planes를 잃게 되었다.
