Senead O'Connor는 1966년 아일랜드 Dublin시에서 본명 Sinead Marie Bernadette O'Connor로

태어나 어린 시절 부모의 이혼으로 불우한 유년을 보냈다. 1987년 The Lion and the Cobra

앨범으로 데뷔한 그녀는 빡빡 밀어버린 헤어스타일과 괴팍한 패션이 트레이드 마크이다.

1942년 북 아이랜드에서 태어난 Phil Coulter는 Bill Martin과 팀을 이루며 1967년 유로비젼

송 컨테스트의 대상인 Puppet on a string, Cliff Richard의 히트곡인 Congratulations등 많은

히트곡을 작곡하며 1970년대부터는 아일랜드를 대표하는 세계적인 작곡가로 성장하였다.

1980년대 Phil Coulter의 형과 여동생이 Swilly 호수 (Lough Swilly, Lake of Shadows)에서

잇달아 익사했는데 여동생을 잃은 지 15년이 지난 후, 그는 형과 동생을 추모하는 곡을 작곡하였다.

형 Bhrian을 위해 작곡한 곡이 ‘The Star Of The Sea’이고 여동생 Cyd를 위해 작곡한 곡이

 바로 ‘The Shores Of The Swilly’이다.

한편 Star of the Sea는 이곡을 부른 Sinead O'Connor의 친 오빠인 Joseph O'connor가 2004년

 발표하여 국제적인 베스트 셀러가 되었던 소설의 제목으로 1847년 아일랜드의 기근시대의 이야기를

내용으로 하고 있는데 이때 아일랜드인들이 미국으로 떠날 때 타고 간 선박의 이름이기도 하다.
