1950년 뉴욕에서 오페라 baritone가수 Robert McFerrin의 아들로 태어난 그는 4옥타브를 커버하는 음역과 모든 악기소리를 음성으로 표현하는 a cappella 가수로서 Don't Worry, Be Happy는 1988년 영화 Cocktail에 삽입되면서 빌보드 챠트 1위를 기록한 곡이다. 고민이 있을때 걱정하면 고민이 2배로 되니까 걱정하지 말고 즐거워하라는 가사도 멋지지만 악기를 전혀 사용하지 않고 바비 혼자만의 목소리로 이노래가 만들어졌다는 것이 놀랍습니다.
