Five Satins / In The  Still of the Night

 

Five Satins의 리드 보컬인 Fred Parris가 작곡한 곡으로 처음에는 In The Still of the Night라고

하였지만 Cole Porter의 동명곡과 혼돈을 피하기 위해 후에 곡명을 In The Still of the Nite로 바꿨다.  

발표된 1956년에는 빌보드 챠트 24위에 머물렀지만 그후 반세기를 넘나들며 계속 총 3차례 빌보드

100위권 내에 재진입하였고 수많은 아티스트들에 의해 리메이크 되었으며

The Buddy Holly Story,  Dirty Dancing등의 영화에 삽입되며 며 꾸준한 사랑을 받았다.

 

Five Satins / In The  Still of the Night

 

1954년 미국  Connecticut주 New Haven시에서 Fred Parris, Lou Peebles, Stanley Dortch,

Ed Martin, Jim Freeman 그리고 Nat Mosley로 결성되었으나 곧 Peebles와 Dortch는

탈퇴하고 Al Denby가 가세하였다. 이중 Fred Parris와 Richie Freeman는 나머지 멤버들을

교체해가며 근래까지 활동하고 있다.
