초기의 Miracles 멤버들은 Smokey Robinson 부부, Moore, White,
Bobby Rogers 그리고 Marv Tarplin이였다. Brunswick Records사의
오디션에서 불합격이 된 Miracles는 작곡자이자 제작자인 Berry Gordy와
손을잡고 Gordy의 제작으로 End 레코드사와 Chess 레코드사에서
취입하였고 1959년 Tamla Records가 설립된후 그들은 첫 소속 그룹으로
계약하게 된다. 1960년에는 대히트곡 Shop Around를 발표하며 그후에는
Motown 레코드사의 가장 중요한 팀으로 성장하여 "You've Really
Got a Hold on Me", "What's So Good About Goodbye", "Way
Over There", "I'll Try Something New", "Mickey's Monkey",
"Going to a Go-Go", "(Come 'Round Here) I'm the on e You Need",
"Just A Mirage", "If You Can Want", "More Love", "I Don't Blame
You At All", "Ooo Baby Baby", "The Tracks of My Tears", "
Special Occasion", "I Second That Emotion", "Baby Baby Don't
Cry", "The Tears of a Clown", "My Girl Has Gone" 등
일련의 히트곡들을 발표하며 슈퍼 그룹으로 떠오르게 된다.
