반드시 밀물은 온다

"The high tide will come. On that day, I will go out to the sea."

반드시 밀물은 온다. 그날이 오면 나는 바다로 나가리라.

 

 

Steel King Andrew Carnegie kept an old painting in his office.

철강왕 앤드류 카네기의 사무실 벽에는 한점의 낡은 그림이 걸려 있었다.

 

The painting he treasured was neither a masterpiece drawn by a famous artist nor an antique that was

highly worth possessing. It was just a humble painting of a boat on a sandy beach.

그가 소중히 여기던 그림은 유명한 작가의 그림도, 소장할만한 가치가 높은 골동품도 아니였다.

해안 백사장에 있는 한척의 배의 초라한 그림일 뿐이였다.

 

When he used to be a traveling salesman in his early days, he found this picture in the house of an old

person and politely asked for the picture.

카네기가 젊은 시절 방문판매 세일즈맨이였을때 들렀던 한 노인의 집에 걸려있던 이 그림을 발견하고

정중하게 요청하여 받아온 그림이다.

 

 

At the bottom of the picture was a sentence that read,

“The high tide will come.”

그림의 밑에는 다음과 같은 글이 쓰여져 있었다.

"언젠가 밀물은 온다."

 

The boat that seemed abandoned was waiting for high tide. Just like the boat that will row out to the

sea when high tide comes, Carnegie had the firm belief that he too would go toward the vast sea when

high tide came in his life.

And as he worked hard and prepared for the day, he could succeed greatly in the end.

버려진듯한 배는 밀물을 기다리고 있었다.

밀물이 오면 배가 바다로 나갈수 있듯이 그의 인생중 만조가 오면 카네기 자신도 광활한 바다로

나갈수 있을 것이라는 확고한 믿음을 갖고 있었다.

그는 밀물이 올날을 준비하며 열심히 일했고 결국 크게 성공할수 있었다.
