1957년  미국 Seattle의 University of Washington의 동창인 Bob Flick (acoustic bass),

John Paine (guitar), Mike Kirkland (guitar & banjo) 그리고 Dick Foley (guitar)가        
결성하여 반세기동안 활동을 해온 포크계의 전설적인 그룹       
1960년 데뷰앨범인  "Brothers Four"를 발표하였고 같은해 발표한 싱글 "The Greenfields"의

 대대적인 히트로 유명세를 타게됨.
