‘From a Distance'는 베트 미들러가 1990년에 발표한 곡으로 아래 가사는

 2006년에 크리스마스 버젼으로 편곡돼 나온 가사다.

이 곡은 작곡가 겸 가수인 Julie Gold가 1987년에 쓴 곡으로

HBO 방송사에서 비서로 일하면서 이 곡을 작곡하였고

친구 소개로 가수 Nanci Griffith에게 곡을 넘겨서 1987년에 처음 발표되었다.

하지만 이 노래가 전 세계적으로 유명해진 건 베트 미들러 덕분으로

그녀의 버젼은 1990년 빌보드 이지리스닝 챠트 1위, 그리고 팝챠트 2위에 오르며

1991년 그래미 올해의 곡을 수상하였다.
