Aura Lee / Burl Ives 외

미국 남북전쟁을 배경으로 만들어진 노래 Aura Lee를 소개합니다.

1964년  George R. Poulton이 작곡하고 W. W. Fosdick이 작사한 이곡은

1936년 Frances Farmer에 의해 처음 발표되었고 그후 Bing Crosby,

Jim Reeves, Slim Whitman등 수많은 가수들에 의해 발표되었는데

Burl Icle Ivanhoe Ives (1909 – 1995)

미국 일리노이주에서 태어난 가수겸 배우로 영화  The Big Country (1958)에서

아카데미 조연상을 수상했으며 1961년 A Little Bitty Tear를 발표하여

빌보드 챠트 9위에 올렸다.

그런데 이곡이 어디선가 많이 듣던 곡 같다구요?

맞습니다. 바로 락의 황제 엘비스가 60여년전 발표해 엄청난 히트를 하였던

Love Me Tender 입니다. 이곡의 멜로디에 Vera Matson이 새로히 가사를

입혀 엘비스가 1956년 발표하여 빌보드 챠트 1위에 올린 곡이지요.
